The Route

Attempting route planning was a daunting task as none of our group has significant cycle experience. After searching via Google we discovered CTC the national cyclists’ organisation.

We will start at Land’s End cycling from England to Scotland due to the prevailing Southern wind, which should speed us on our way.

We will speed along Southwest England, cycle next to the border of Wales, puff our way up through the Pennines and Lake District, skid around the rainy Scottish Borders, travel via the Great Glen Way, then finally press home to John’o Groats.

We are basing our route on the “Youth Hostel Route” provided in the CTC “End-to-end” pack.

By staying at Youth Hostels we will have relatively low accommodation costs, and we don’t have to travel with encumbering camping gear.

To anyone who is having trouble with route planning, we would highly recommend buying an End-to-end pack, or becoming a CTC member.
